Re: B3 - brief note on File Sharing / Git / Backup

Is there any of these backup sw that support encryption of backups? Take a look at Box Backup (http://boxbackup.org). I've only just come across this client-server solution. It is functional but still in development (for some years), but an easily set-up, efficent backup server solution. Here are t...

Re: B3 - brief note on File Sharing / Git / Backup

Affa seems reasoneable, I think I'll go ahead and try it out on my B2. In the meanwhile, have you tried any of the backup software you mentioned, or have you found other worth trying out? /MO Since posting I've tried several others and am settling on rsnapshot, which is similar to Affa (Affa was in...

Re: Release notes for Excito Bubba 3 software version 2.5

I updated to B3 version 2.5 which is fine except that the photo album doesn't open any more. I have done "Restrict admin access to LAN" which blocked the album from showing in LAN but allowed it to be seen from the web. Now with B3 version 2.5 it is "access denied" to album from LAN, and no album t...

Re: Release notes for Excito Bubba 2&3 software version 2.4.

Ok my update complete and I am very pleased to report that it has fixed problems I had with rsync transfers of large files from a Windows 7 PC to B3. See forum post Re: rsync: page allocation failure.

Re: rsync: page allocation failure.

I have finally solved my rsync problems. Applying all the the changes suggested here (and even recompiling the cygwin rsync to ensure it was using the correct protocol) DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. However, after updating B3 to 2.4.2 a couple of days ago I find my rsync runs for hours and hours and transf...

Re: Release notes for Excito Bubba 2&3 software version 2.4.

Rebooted, looks good. Thanks.

Feedback:
- the progress mechanism could be made more informative, and is flaky

Still love my B3!

Re: Release notes for Excito Bubba 2&3 software version 2.4.

I would SSH into the box and do an "apt-get upgrade". It will either complete and you can then reboot the server or it will complain and give you an idea of what's wrong. Thanks... # apt-get upgrade Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done 0 upgraded,...

Re: Release notes for Excito Bubba 2&3 software version 2.4.

As with the last update this one appears not to have comleted - afte a lot of status bar and step and download activity (which I have to say gives very little sense of where one is in the process, what is done, or remains to be done), I am left with a blank 0% status bar and no other indication of w...

Re: ownCloud and FreedomBox

Here are my notes for getting ownCloud 3 working on B3 Recommend using FireFox as ownCloud seems to have problems with other browsers (see subsequent posts) [EDIT] PHP Tweaks Open the PHP configuration file in /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini, look for: upload_max_filesize = 2M post_max_size= 2M In place o...

Re: ownCloud and FreedomBox

I have ownCloud 3 working and had to change the php.ini settings (three places I think). Almost certainly the apache2 one.

ownCloud works a treat, much nicer photo albumn than B3's, full user & group control etc. Really excellent cloud support.

B3 - brief note on File Sharing / Git / Backup

Neat apps for B3 I've tried lately or hope to try soon: - ownCloud 3 is awesome on B3 (file sharing, WebDav, lots of apps, great photo albumn) - got a Git repo working on it yesterday (remarkably easy) - found three very promising free backup apps to try (decreasing order of geekiness): bup - early ...

Re: Dropbox for Bubba ???

My wife wants a simple way to sync files between her laptop and Galaxy Tab. I first thought I'd simply install Dropbox for her. But of course it'd be better if I could host it myself instead :D . So the only thing I really need is clients for Windows 7 (laptop) and Android and of course a server th...

Re: B3 grinding noises - disk failing? URGENT!

Well I have done "smartctl -t long" tests on /dev/sda and /dev/sdb. I also captured the "smartctl -a" output for each drive beforehand so I could to a diff. These pre "-t long" outputs are different and neither contains an error, unlike the output after doing "-t long". Is the test complete? /dev/sd...
